Dentons adds new corporate partner
Global law firm Dentons has appointed a new partner to its corporate practice in Sydney, in a move the firm said is part of its growth strategy to double its revenue in Australia over the next five years.
The most recent appointment to the Dentons Australia partnership, Michelle Segaert is the second corporate partner to join the firm since June and brings more than 20 years of experience.
Ms Segaert also advises on financial services licensing, consumer credit, payments systems, digital assets, anti-money laundering, ESG reporting, credit reporting, and financial product advice and distribution arrangements (including credit and insurance). She has extensive experience working with regulators including ASIC, APRA, and AUSTRAC.
“I am thrilled to join Kym Livesley and Caroline Snow who together lead the Dentons’ Corporate team, along with the other Corporate partners. Dentons has a depth and breadth across the Australian practice which will service our clients well and provide great opportunities for collaboration,” she said.
“This is also a very exciting time to be joining the world’s largest global law firm, at a time of deglobalisation, digitalisation and decarbonisation. Dentons has a truly global DNA with an interconnectedness across more than 80 countries. I look forward to contributing to the growth of Dentons, and to the opportunities and connections this will bring to my clients.”
Ms Segaert will join Dentons in October, along with associate Jenny Chen and paralegal Elle Wong.
Dentons Australia chair and Australasia region chief executive Doug Stipanicev said the appointment is a significant addition to Dentons’ growing corporate practice.
“I am delighted to welcome Michelle to Dentons,” he said.
“Michelle brings a wealth of experience which will greatly benefit our existing clients and complements our existing financial services regulation offering. We are seeing significant demand in the corporate space, so it is very exciting to add Michelle to the Corporate team in Sydney so shortly after expanding the team in Melbourne.”
