David Amentas (pictured) has joined McCabes and will head up its financial lines practice group.

He has practised in insurance law for more than 20 years, the firm said in a statement, and has “extensive experience” across professional indemnity and liability insurance.

He joins from Clyde & Co, where he served for seven years.

The news follows the firm’s appointment of four new insurance principals, reported earlier this year by Lawyers Weekly.

It also follows the firm’s appointment of a special counsel from Norton Rose Fulbright as a new principal in late July and its promotion of 13 lawyers to more senior roles in late June.

Speaking about his new role, Mr Amentas said he was “excited” to commence with McCabes.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the firm, and build on the formidable potential of the financial lines group,” he said.

McCabes managing partner Andrew Lacey added that the appointment is a “significant step” in strengthening the firm’s insurance division and boosting the financial lines practice group.

“David’s passion for excellence aligns with the firm’s values, making him the ideal leader to elevate the Financial Lines group,” he said.

“We are confident that David will have a large impact on the firm, bringing with him an impressive amount of expertise and experience that he has cultivated through his career.”
