National law firm Johnson Winter Slattery has appointed a partner from global player Jones Day, who is set to strengthen the firm’s disputes, arbitration, and insolvency ranks.
Lucas Wilk (pictured) has joined JWS, bringing with him more than two decades of experience representing clients in large litigation and arbitration, with a focus on the energy, resources, and infrastructure sectors, as well as extensive experience in complex insolvency matters.
The news follows the firm’s promotion of five to partner in late June, its hiring of a taxation special counsel in mid-June, its promotion of 18 lawyers to more senior roles in early June, its appointment of a law professor as a consultant in May, and its addition of a real estate special counsel from Corrs in March.
Speaking about the firm’s newest partner, JWS managing partner Jeremy Davis said: “Lucas is a recognised leader for litigation, arbitration and insolvency work, and it is great to have a lawyer with his high profile join our team.”
“We have seen a significant uptick in disputes and insolvency work, and Lucas will deepen the strength of our team,” he said.
Mr Wilk added: “JWS has built a strong reputation in the market for disputes and insolvency representation.”
“I am delighted to join a team with such high calibre lawyers and clients.”
