Hall & Wilcox elevates 48
National law firm Hall & Wilcox has named five new partners, 11 new special counsel, 24 new senior associates and eight senior corporate promotions, all of which take effect in the new financial year.
Hall & Wilcox is the latest BigLaw firm to unveil a senior promotion round ahead of the new financial year, with 48 professionals being elevated to more senior positions.
Four of those five new partners are female, the firm noted, meaning that it is on track to meet its target of a minimum of 40 per cent female representation in its partnership by 2025.
The new special counsel are Sam Baring, James Fielding, Chris Forder, Alexandra Gallagher, Holly Lillico, Victoria Ng, Rebecca Pickering, Kathryn Sharpe, Elizabeth Vorbach, Sining Wang, and Melissa Zen.
The newest senior associates are Casey Bombara, Grace Bowran-Burge, Victoria Cai, Rhonda Carson, Sonia Cheung, Grace Collis, Eloise Cotchett, Katt Faapito, Jake Fogo, Kaitlin Greer, Olivia Hunt, Gabrielle Joffe, Marianna Kirchmann, Adrian Lee, Sophie Lee, Kendall Messer, Dan Poole, Charlie Renney, Natalie Russell, Shyla Sivanas, Katherine Teague, Paul Todd, Todd Waugh, and Lucy Wilcox.
And the firm also promoted eight professionals in corporate services to new roles: Deborah Berry (risk manager), Briele Heath (head of commercial business development), Sonja Johnstone (senior workflow developer/analyst), Kate Price (head of markets), Pious Thomas (technology director), Yvette Woodward (head of knowledge), Salil Chitre (information security manager), and Frances Morgan (document support manager).
All promotions are effective as of 1 July.
The promotions round follows a half year of growth for Hall & Wilcox.
As reported by Lawyers Weekly, the firm added an insurance partner from HWL Ebsworth in mid-March, a team of five senior lawyers for its Newcastle office in early March, a partner from Baker McKenzie in late February, and promoted an insurance litigation special counsel in its Brisbane office to partner in January.
The news also follows recent promotions rounds in the profession, including: McCullough Robertson elevated 17 lawyers, including two to partner, yesterday (Tuesday, 20 June); 55 being promoted as part of Mills Oakley’s EOFY promotions round on Monday (19 June); the promotion of 23 at Thomson Geer on the same day; the elevation of 26 to more senior roles at Piper Alderman, also unveiled on Monday; five new partners in Australia at King & Wood Mallesons announced last Friday (16 June); the promotion of seven to partner at Gadens last Thursday (15 June); the elevation of 18 at the start of June at Johnson Winter Slattery; 35 senior promotions at Lander & Rogers in early June; four senior hires for MinterEllison’s consulting arm a fortnight ago; seven to partner at Moray & Agnew in late May; three new partners at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, also in late May; seven named as special counsel at Clyde & Co in early May; two new partners at DLA Piper as announced in late April; three new partners at Allen & Overy from April; seven to counsel roles at Herbert Smith Freehills in the same week and 10 to partner in Australia a week earlier; and the elevation of 13 to the partnership at Ashurst in mid-April.
