Warren Scott (pictured) has joined Dentons as a partner, marking “another big step in Dentons’ growth strategy, which has a target of doubling revenue in Australia in the next five years”, the firm said in a statement.

He brings, the firm outlined, 25 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, structuring, franchising and network development, international trade, competition law and capital raising, and advises a range of clients from start-up businesses to internationally recognised brands on growth and merger and acquisition activity, including regulatory approvals such as Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) clearance.

Mr Scott will be based in the firm’s Melbourne office.

The news follows the firm’s hiring of a Sydney-based barrister as a special counsel late last month and its appointment of a patents partner back in February.

He is, the firm noted, the ninth partner to join Dentons in the past year in Australia.

Speaking about the appointment, Dentons Australia chair and Australasian regional chief executive Doug Stipanicev said he is “delighted” to welcome Mr Scott to the firm.

“Dentons is on a major growth trajectory, so we are focused on adding increased depth and speciality to the corporate practice,” he said.

“Warren’s experience, particularly in multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions, matches the needs of our clients perfectly as we continue to see increased demand in this area. As a global law firm, Warren’s cross-border jurisdiction experience will be of great benefit to our clients.”

Mr Scott added: “Dentons’ Melbourne office and wider corporate practice is growing rapidly, so it is a very exciting time to be joining Dentons.

“I’m also looking forward to the opportunities being part of the world’s largest law firm will bring to my clients.”
