Kennedys names new Aussie partner in global cohort of 20
Global law firm Kennedys Law LLP has unveiled 20 new partners worldwide, swelling its partnership ranks to more than 300.
Emily Unger (insurance, Melbourne) is Kennedys’ newest Australian partner, having been named as part of a global cohort of 20 joining the BigLaw firm’s partnership.
The promotions take the firm’s partnership to 316. Kennedys has over 2,400 staff across 43 offices worldwide.
Ms Unger, the firm said, has “extensive experience” in common law worker claims, statutory recoveries, public liability and property damage claims, and represents leading Australian and international insurers and acts on behalf of cleaning companies, schools, hospitals, manufacturers, host employers and occupiers.
The news follows the firm’s expansion into Brisbane in July 2022. In conversation with Lawyers Weekly at the time, Kennedys Australian managing partner Matt Andrews explained that the firm sees Queensland as an “important gateway” for its regional growth.
Speaking about the new cohort of partners, Kennedys senior partner Nick Thomas (pictured) said: “It brings me great pleasure every year to see our up-and-coming lawyers’ hard work recognised with promotion to partnership.
“The firm would not be where it is without the talent and tenacity of all of our lawyers in seeking the very best outcomes for our clients, and I look forward to many more equally well-deserved promotions in the years to come.”
