Mathisha Panagoda and Georgina Wong were recently promoted to partner in the firm’s Sydney and Brisbane offices, respectively.

Mr Panagoda acts for schools, religious institutions, disability service providers and insurers on claims of institutional risk and liability, bodily injury, professional indemnity and general liability, while Ms Wong acts on behalf of faith-based and not-for-profit organisations in institutional risk and liability claims.

Elsewhere, Bianca Wallace has been promoted to special counsel, bringing with her “a wealth of experience” in institutional risk and liability, complex public liability, professional negligence and indemnity litigation with private and insurance clients across Australia and the United Kingdom.

The three promotions, the firm said in a statement, “secures the insurance team’s national focus on institutional risk and liability work”.

“These senior promotions and appointments underpin the team’s capabilities in providing a holistic, principled and outcome-focused framework for sensitively managing claims and servicing our clients’ individual needs,” the firm outlined.

Colin Biggers & Paisley joint insurance practice leader Cathryn Prowse said: “Our insurance practice has undergone significant growth over the last few years, and we continue to focus on promoting and appointing talented people to service the breadth of our clients’ needs nationwide.

“It is such a delight for us to see organic promotions. Mathisha and Georgina have made a substantial contribution to the practice and our culture. Their work and approach in the institutional risk and liability space will complement the existing team and offering, helping us to better service clients nationally.”
