Bakers hires senior associate from A&O as new partner
Global law firm Baker McKenzie has appointed a new partner for its banking and finance practice, who was a senior associate at BigLaw rival Allen & Overy.
Holly Hart has joined the partnership at Baker McKenzie, having come over from Allen & Overy, where she spent the past 12 years and was stationed in Singapore.
The news follows the appointment of the firm’s new Australian managing partner, as well as another banking and finance partner from King & Wood Mallesons.
Ms Hart, the firm said in a statement, acts on debt issuances, the establishment of debt programs, the issuing of structured debt instruments, securitisations, Islamic financing, bond and loan defaults, restructurings and general corporate loan facilities.
Bakers’ current national managing partner, Anthony Foley, said: “Holly is an exceptional lawyer with first-class experience and connections locally and regionally.
“With a rich and varied background (including programme director at the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management), we are excited about Holly joining us and contributing to the expansion of our thriving banking and finance practice.”
Ms Hart said: “Baker McKenzie is uniquely placed to assist global clients requiring execution in more than one jurisdiction, whilst at the same time having local legal expertise.
“Given the high-calibre team of lawyers servicing market-leading clients on highly complex matters, I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to grow my practice with this team.”
And Bakers’ Australian head of banking and finance, Duncan McGrath, added: “We’re excited to have Holly join the firm’s banking and finance practice where she will add further depth to our greatly expanded domestic and offshore offering as we continue to respond to increasing client demand.”
