BigLaw firm Mills Oakley has moved to expand its national corporate offering with the hire of a partner from fellow national firm Gilchrist Connell.
Gaurav de Fontgalland (pictured) has joined Mills Oakley’s Sydney office from Gilchrist Connell, where he was head of that firm’s national corporate and commercial practice.
Mr de Fontgalland acts for listed and private companies, investment firms and their portfolio companies, emerging businesses, family offices and high-net-worth individuals in Australia and internationally, Mills Oakley said in a statement.
He commenced at the firm in January.
Speaking about the hire, Mills Oakley chief executive John Nerurker said that the firm was continuing its strategy of expanding its national corporate practice.
“Having tripled the size of our Melbourne corporate practice last year with the acquisition of Clarendon Lawyers, our next step is to gain similar scale in other markets. A high-calibre partner like Gaurav will add a further dimension to our Sydney practice,” he said.
Mr de Fontgalland added: “An impeccable reputation, bench strength and the availability of the full range of cross-practice expertise are vital prerequisites for my clients, and I feel fortunate to have found all of that, and more, at Mills Oakley.
“I am delighted to be making my contribution to the firm’s vision of becoming a leader in the independent domestic market.”
