Robert Speed (pictured), who has previously served at Watson Mangioni, Jones Day, and Allens, is joining McCabes as a principal for its corporate group.

Over his 15-year career, the firm said in a statement, Mr Speed has acted on a wide variety of complex and novel transactions and has expertise in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions (public and private), financial services, securities regulation, and corporate governance.

Speaking about the appointment, McCabes managing principal Andrew Lacey said that Mr Speed is a “strategic hire to strengthen our expertise and depth in a growing practice for the firm”.

“We are excited to welcome Robert to the firm. His appointment brings a wealth of skill and knowledge to the corporate group,” he said.

“Robert’s appointment aligns with the demand of our clients as we strive to meet their growing needs and provide the highest level of service to them.”

Mr Speed added: “I am excited by McCabe’s growth ambitions in the corporate and commercial space, which I look forward to being a part of.

“I also look forward to working collaboratively with others within McCabes to provide legal services to new and existing clients in an efficient and cost-effective manner.”
