Carter Newell promotes 7
National law firm Carter Newell has promoted seven staff across its Australian offices, including two to the partnership.
Carter Newell has brought its partner count up to 24 this week across Australia with the promotion of Danielle Skinner and Michael Elliott to partner.
Ms Skinner specialises in property and injury liability insurance and has extensive experience in all aspects of public liability and property damage and product claims. Having conducted litigation in various Australian jurisdictions, as well as appellate courts, she has also been involved in numerous coronial inquests.
Mr Elliott practices predominantly in construction and engineering dispute resolution and construction insurance recoveries. He advises principals, contractors and consultants on various issues arising on major projects throughout Australia and overseas.
Commenting on the partner appointments, Carter Newell managing partner Paul Hopkins said the firm was “proud to strengthen our partnership with the talent and expertise of Danielle and Michael”.
“In a post-COVID world, it is important to not only be able to foster good talent but to celebrate it.
“I congratulate not only Danielle and Michael, who have so deservedly been welcomed into the partnership but also congratulate our newly promoted special counsel, senior associate, and associates,” he said.
“The new partners and elevated lawyers have demonstrated high levels of expertise and have continued to provide superior service to our clients.”
Stephanie Huestis has also been promoted to special counsel — and has extensive experience acting for major insurers and corporate insureds both locally and internationally.
Karl Higgins has been promoted to senior associate, and Emily Holzberger, Hayley Nankivell and Nina Abangan have both been promoted to associate, bolstering a number of the firm’s practice areas across Sydney and Brisbane.
