Allen & Overy names new Perth managing partner
Global BigLaw firm Allen & Overy has named a new managing partner for Perth, who takes over from Geoff Simpson ahead of his upcoming retirement from the partnership.
Effective 1 February, David Jenaway (pictured) has been appointed the Allen & Overy Perth managing partner, allowing Mr Simpson time to transition into his retirement from the firm’s partnership.
“It’s an exciting time to be taking on the role of office managing partner for Perth. Since we established in Australia, our strategy has been about scaling our platform to assist our clients with their most important matters, both locally and internationally, whilst working closely with our global network,” he said.
“We have also worked hard to promote a culture of diversity and inclusion for our people, and expand our pro bono and community efforts. I look forward to working with the team to achieve continued success and build on Geoff’s legacy.”
In his new managing partner role, Mr Jenaway will focus on leading A&O’s operations in Perth and Australia and continuing to deliver high-quality service to its clients, according to Mr Simpson.
“Building the Australian business from scratch just over 12 years ago was an incredible opportunity then, as it is today. As we continue to grow our operations in Australia, our Perth office has become integral to our Asia-Pacific and global reach,” he said.
“David’s focus on our clients and our people makes him an ideal choice for the role of managing partner. I am confident that he will drive the continued success of the Perth office.”
Sydney managing partner Jason Denisenko thanked Mr Simpson for his time in the role.
“I would like to thank Geoff for his contribution and leadership as our first managing partner in Perth and congratulate David on his appointment,” he said.
“Together with David, I am confident that we will continue building on what has been a very successful journey for the Australia offices.”
