G+T confirms NY promotions
The national law firm has confirmed its next round of promotions, which kick off on 1 January 2023.
Gilbert + Tobin will welcome Sydney-based Geoff Petersen to the partnership.
Throughout his career, Mr Petersen has specialised in energy regulation and infrastructure access. He’s advised on a wide range of matters, including economic regulation, competition and access matters in a number of infrastructure sectors.
Prior to joining Gilbert + Tobin over a decade ago, Mr Petersen worked as an industrial economist.
Competition and regulation group head Elizabeth Avery said the firm was excited to welcome someone of Mr Petersen’s calibre to the partnership.
“We are delighted to be announcing Geoff’s promotion to partnership,” she said.
“Geoff’s appointment reflects his market-leading profile advising on significant energy and critical infrastructure projects focused on competition, access and regulatory issues.
“As an economist and a competition lawyer, he is strongly positioned to advise clients in regulated industries. We are excited to make this appointment, further supporting the depth and breadth of the market-leading competition and regulation team in Australia.”
Elsewhere, Gilbert + Tobin has promoted lawyer Georgina Willcock to special counsel.
Ms Willcock joined the firm as a paralegal in 2009.
The Sydney-based lawyer worked in Gilbert + Tobin’s tech and IP group, advising in financial services regulation and specialising in fintech and Web3.
