Earlier this month, Clyde & Co celebrated its 10th anniversary in Australia, which followed it exceeding $100 million in annual revenue in the country. The Australian arm of the firm is also now the global entity’s third-largest country by fees generated.

Now, it has named Lucinda Lyons (pictured) — the firm’s head of insurance — as its new managing partner.

Ms Lyons takes over from Michael Tooma, who served as the firm’s head in Australia for five years.

He commented: “We look back on the extremely strong performance of our Australia business over the past five years, and at the end of my term as managing partner, I am pleased to hand over to Lucinda, who will see the firm through the next period of growth.

“We have strong ambitions to double in size in Australia over the coming five years and will significantly expand in our chosen sectors of insurance, energy, marine and natural resources, projects and construction, and workplace health and safety. Lucinda is ideally placed to lead the firm on this growth path.”

Ms Lyons added: “This year marks a milestone for the firm, with a business that has been surpassing $100 million in revenue and grown to being the third-largest country of the firm globally. During his term as managing partner, Michael has successfully led the Australia business through the pandemic, in what has been a challenging period for any business.

“We have in fact emerged from the pandemic as a stronger, high-performing organisation and are ideally placed to boldly pursue opportunities for growth. I am excited by what lies ahead for Clyde & Co in Australia.”

Ms Lyons will assume the role on 1 November 2022.

The news follows the appointment of a new managing partner at fellow BigLaw firm HopgoodGanim earlier in October and the election of a new managing partner at Sparke Helmore back in March.
