Beginning his third term in January 2023, Doug Stipanicev will continue his role as Dentons Australia chair and Australasia region CEO for a further two years, with a target of doubling revenue in Australia across the next five years.

After heading up the Dentons Perth office previously, Mr Stipanicev has since focused on leading the Australian business for the firm. Along with the rest of the Australian board, he will prioritise clients, talent attraction and retention, and creating a financially strong model moving forward.

Elliott Portnoy, global CEO of Dentons, said the reappointment was an important part of creating an “integrated firm”.

“I look forward to continuing to partner with Doug as he continues in his role as CEO of Dentons’ Australasia region,” he said.

“Together, we are building an even more connected and integrated firm to create opportunities for our clients across the Australasia region and around the world.”

This news comes after the BigLaw firm unveiled a combination with full-service Indian legal practice Link Legal, which Dentons said marks the first time a global law firm has combined with an Indian firm.

Dentons global chairman Joe Andrew added that “Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea play a key role in the world’s largest global law firm”.

“Doug’s reappointment strengthens our ability to assist clients face the challenges and meet the opportunities in a complex world,” he said.

Finally, Maureen Migliazzo, Dentons’ chief operating officer, added: “Doug’s leadership over the past four years has helped position the firm strongly, evidenced by our growing national footprint, including the appointment of an additional 13 partners since July 2022.”
