The firm has maintained yearly growth rates of over 20 per cent for the past five years, it said in a statement celebrating its 10th anniversary in Australia.

Australia is currently Clyde & Co’s third-largest country by fees generated, and for the first time, in the financial year 2021–22, yearly revenue surpassed $100 million.

This month marked 10 years since Clyde & Co established its initial Australian locations in Sydney and Perth, Australia. This was followed by the opening of further locations in Melbourne (2013) and Brisbane (2014).

Managing partner and Asia-Pacific board chair Chris Jobson provided some insight: “In Australia, the firm has seen a period of impressive growth since market entry 10 years ago.

“Jointly with our offerings in Hong Kong and Singapore, which have been in operation for four and three decades, respectively, the Australia business forms part of an exceptionally strong network across the Asia-Pacific region.”

Within a decade, the number of partners at Clyde & Co Australia increased from 5 to 39, and the number of employees increased from 20 when the firm entered the nation to over 450 now.

Michael Tooma, managing partner of the firm in Australia, said: “We have built a challenger brand with a different culture to the mainstream firms — a culture of inclusion, innovation, high performance and joy. We have made working at a law firm fun again.

“We care about our people, and our people care about our clients and our business. Our clients trust us with their most important matters in our chosen sectors of insurance, energy, marine and natural resources, projects and construction, workplace health and safety, and insurance.”

Carolena Gordon, senior partner, added: “Our story in Australia demonstrates what Clyde & Co is all about — being bold and grasping opportunities to grow and develop for the benefit of our clients.

“Since we opened there, our growth in Australia has been phenomenal, and the team has built a diverse and successful set of practices across the country. Congratulations to everyone who played a part, and here is to further growth in the next decade.”

The firm proclaimed that Clyde & Co in Australia would continue to actively pursue further expansion in its chosen sectors, both through important partner hiring and organic growth.
