Australian Family Lawyers to open new office in Gold Coast
Listed national law firm Australian Family Lawyers is set to launch a new presence in the south of Queensland, as the BigLaw player looks to “transform” the market.
Australian Family Lawyers (ASX: AFL) is opening a new office in the Gold Coast suburb of Burleigh Heads, which will mark its 19th office across the country.
It will service on the southern end of the Gold Coast, Queensland, and in the Tweed Rivers of NSW.
The news follows the firm’s opening of an 18th national office in Wollongong in June as well as its expansion into the Northern Territory late last year.
Also in June of this year, the firm unveiled an 18-week paid parental leave policy.
In September 2021, the firm spoke with Lawyers Weekly about its plans to be the biggest and best family law firm in Australia.
Speaking about the firm’s newest office, AFL executive director Grant Dearlove (pictured) said that approximately 18 months ago, the firm opened a “greenfield office” on the Gold Coast, “to test our client acquisition strategy and search for a leading lateral family law recruit to establish and grow our presence in the region”.
“We have now achieved this under our new ‘owner operator’ model with this new lateral hire in the region,” he said.
“AFL’s new ‘owner operator’ model is unique and will transform the family law market in Australia.
“It provides a platform for long-term sustainable growth with the combination of a proven business and operational model to help solve many of the issues currently facing both the legal sector and its clients.
“This is the third co-ownership model we have entered into in the last six months, and it is already proving to be a success to continue to leverage our scalable platform for growth.”
