McCabes takes property team from Hunt & Hunt
National law firm McCabes has hired a principal, special counsel, senior associate, associate and lawyer from fellow BigLaw firm Hunt & Hunt, as McCabes moves to expand its commercial division with a new property group.
McCabes has appointed a new principal for its property group, Penny Cable, who joins the firm alongside special counsel Daniel Murray, senior associate Nicholas Sharman, associate Daniel Weissel and lawyer Allegra Parker.
The property team of five will help strengthen McCabes’ commercial division, the firm said in a statement, by way of their “experience and collaborative approach to meet client needs”.
Speaking about her new role, Ms Cable — who will lead the property group at McCabes — said that she is “delighted” to be part of the growing firm.
“Some of the most important aspects of this new role is the strong vision of the firm, along with the enthusiasm and drive demonstrated by my team,” she said.
The appointment of Ms Cable, the firm said, marks a “significant step” forward in its growth strategy, being a high-priority tactic, including the increased cultivation of its property practice.
McCabes managing principal Andrew Lacey said that Ms Cable and her team are the “perfect fit” for, and a “wonderful addition” to, the firm.
“Penny has a reputation of talent, professionalism, and efficiency, which is exactly the kind of leader that will take our property group, and commercial division at large, to new heights. [She] brings great leadership qualities and extensive legal expertise,” he proclaimed.
“The McCabes commercial division is dedicated to delivering outstanding results through commercial and excellent legal advice and support. We utilise our combined experience to achieve better outcomes for our clients.”
Mr Murray added that it is “great” to join McCabes.
“The firm’s future-driven vision and supportive culture allows us the opportunity to grow as a team as well as at an individual level,” he said.
“Our clients also benefit from having strong complementary practice groups offering a full range of services, should they need a high level of experience and expertise across a range of fields.”
Mr Lacey also noted that the firm isn’t simply growing for growth’s sake.
“We want to ensure that each practice area and principal appointment is for the very best outcome for our clients and our culture as an organisation,” he submitted.
McCabes has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. The firm’s commercial division acts for a wide range of private and public clients across various industries, such as mining services, engineering and manufacturing, transport, education, hospitality and tourism, consumer products, professional services, not-for-profit and religious organisations.
