ASX-listed Bowen Coking Coal Limited has been advised on its acquisition of New Lenton Coal, which currently owns a 90 per cent interest in the Lenton Joint Venture.

Key players: The JWS team was led by partners Bruce Adkins and Stuart Clague, who were assisted by partner Craig Wappett, special counsel Tom Barrett and Andrew Ricciardi and associate Haerim Nam. The firm also worked “hand-in-glove” on the transaction with Bowen legal counsel Terry Bourke.
Deal significance: The transaction is a “transformational acquisition” for Bowen, the firm said in a statement.
It materially enhances the scale and diversity of Bowen’s portfolio of coal assets and provides Bowen with the opportunity to establish a new processing hub in the Burton Complex, the firm noted.
Bowen executive chairman Nick Jorss said: “The acquisition of New Lenton marks another important milestone for Bowen as we continue our emergence as the next significant mining company in the Bowen Basin.”
Mr Clague added: “Having recently acted for Bowen on its acquisition of the Bluff Coal Mine, we are delighted to have acted on this next significant transaction, and to assist Bowen build its portfolio of metallurgical coal assets in the Bowen Basin.”
