National law firm Sparke Helmore – which has nine offices across the country – has named four new special counsel and 15 new senior associates.

Sparke Helmore has promoted 19 professionals to more senior positions, including four to special counsel and 15 to senior associate.

In a statement, the firm said that all of its practice groups “have reason to celebrate, with the spread of promotions representing excellence across teams and locations”.

The new special counsel are Jenna Cotterill, Adam Cunynghame, Aimee Dash and Leith Helsdon.

The new senior associates are Madeleine Armstrong, Max Calligeros, Molly Campbell, Alex Chan, Jonathan Crass, Georgina Dodd, Lara Douglas, Zoe Fatouros, Sally Gooch, Georgia Murphy-Haste, Christopher Orchard, Raymond Quinn, Ashley Sherr, Mary Trimboli and Laura Wells.

The promotions are effective as of 1 July 2022.

Speaking about the newly elevated lawyers, Sparke Helmore national managing partner Andrew White said: “These promotions attest to the quality of our people and I’m very pleased these 19 exceptionally talented lawyers have been promoted.

“Bringing such outstanding people up through the ranks is incredibly important to our growth and demonstrates the depth of opportunity that exists nationally in our firm.”

This news follows a number of BigLaw promotional rounds, including MinterEllison promoting 113 professionals, McCabes promoting 18, listed firm IPH elevating 31, Norton Rose Fulbright promoting 61, Clayton Utz elevating 59, Baker McKenzie promoting 28 (including senior professionals on parental leave), Herbert Smith Freehills naming 56 new senior associates, Allens promoting 79, KWM promoting 90, HopgoodGanim elevating 27, Thomson Geer elevating 31, twenty new appointments at Barry.Nilsson., a “record” number of promotions at global law firm Dentons, 46 new appointments with four partner appointments at Holding Redlich, the promotion of 46 at Hall & Wilcox, the elevation of 48 staff at Mills Oakley, the promotion of 21 at Piper Alderman and the addition of 13 new partners at King & Wood Mallesons.

Sparke Helmore has offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and the Upper Hunter.
