Listed firm names new independent chair
AF Legal Group (ASX: AFL), otherwise known as Australian Family Lawyers, has appointed a new independent non-executive chairman, effective 1 July 2022.
Rick Dennis is assuming the role of chair, with the now-former executive chair Grant Dearlove retaining the title of executive director.
The news follows the firm’s recent expansion into Wollongong.
Speaking about the appointment, Mr Dearlove said: “With the significant growth in the company since listing, the board wanted to strengthen its governance to be more in line with ASX-listed best practices and provide further independence for our shareholders.
“The appointment of Rick to the board in an independent capacity not only strengthens our governance, but also allows my day-to-day focus to be solely on the delivery of the growth of the company for the benefit of all our shareholders and stakeholders.
“I welcome Rick to the board and look forward to working closely with him.”
Mr Dennis added: “I am excited to be joining AFL. [It] has enormous growth potential and I look forward to working with Grant and the team to create further value for all its shareholders.”
