Clyde & Co adds partner from NRF
Global law firm Clyde & Co has appointed partner Matthew Ellis, a corporate, commercial and regulatory lawyer focused on the insurance sector.
Mr Ellis joins from Norton Rose Fulbright, bringing extensive experience across corporate transactions, the regulation of insurance products and services, regulatory investigations, and financial services class actions.
Mr Ellis will work to grow the advisory and regulatory disputes practice in the firm and further strengthen the corporate and regulatory practice alongside Avryl Lattin and Dean Carrigan.
Mr Ellis is “one of very few corporate partners in Australia who have deep related expertise and experience”, the firm said in a statement.
“The regulation of insurance products has increased and will continue to do so, leading to greater demand for these services, across both front end, corporate and regulatory advisory work, and litigation and regulatory investigations,” said Clyde & Co partner and head of insurance Lucinda Lyons.
“Matthew’s addition to the team ensures that our leading practice is set up well to meet this increasing demand.”
“This hire will further strengthen our global team and add to our already market-leading capabilities when it comes to advising insurance clients on their global operations,” said Clyde & Co partner and chair James Cooper.
Mr Ellis commented: “I am excited to be joining Clyde & Co and working with our clients to find opportunities and success in what remains a challenging local and global regulatory environment.
“I share the firm’s strong commitment and focus on the insurance sector and look forward to building on its reputation as the world’s leading insurance firm.”
Mr Ellis is starting with Clyde & Co on 11 July 2022.
