The firm has appointed Simon Rear as its newest partner, effective 1 June 2022.

Mr Rear joins Gilbert + Tobin from Squire Patton Boggs, where he was a partner within the firm’s corporate group since 2014. He brings with him senior associate Michael Van Der Ende.

Mr Rear brings an extensive background to Gilbert + Tobin, having built up expertise in regulated M&A and equity capital markets, private M&A and debt capital markets.

Throughout his career, he has assisted vast clientele with corporate advisory and governance matters, ASX Listing Rule advisory work, contentious shareholder meetings, joint ventures and shareholder arrangements and advising creditors in distressed situations.

Gilbert + Tobin partner Justin Mannolini welcomed Mr Rear to the team, noting the synergies between the new partner’s experience and the firm’s core focus areas.

“He is a highly respected member of the profession, and his appointment will no doubt bring further bench strength to our corporate advisory offering in the Perth market,” Mr Mannolini said.
