Brought to you by Lawyers Weekly together with our principal partner UNSW Law and Justice, the black-tie gala event will be held at the Australian Turf Club, Royal Randwick Racecourse, Sydney, on Friday, 12 August 2022.

The Australian Law Awards showcases the depth of talent in law firms and organisations across the nation’s legal industry and celebrates those in the law profession who dedicate themselves to propelling the industry forward. The program recognises the achievements, contributions, and capabilities of law professionals across Australia.

The awards – which include 40 individual and group categories – are peer-reviewed and judged by a well-respected and trusted panel and present an opportunity for law firms, managing partners, general counsel, barristers, and legal scholars to distinguish themselves and strengthen their position while retaining and attracting the best talent and business.

This year, Lawyers Weekly is thrilled to invite legal operations professionals to throw their hats in the awards ring as they become increasingly integral to the efficiency and success of teams, both in-house and in private practice.

The Legal Operations Professional of the Year award recognises outstanding performance by legal operations professionals at any level, either in-house or in a law firm.

An effective submission will detail their outstanding work over the 2021-22 financial year (FY21-22) and outline their contribution to the growth and success of the legal operations functions within their organisation or firm.

Providing a reference to any specific projects or initiatives that resulted in growth and success would strengthen the quality of the submission.

Lawyers Weekly is also asking award entrants to outline the challenges they faced when growing their legal operations function, and the strategies they implemented to not only overcome them but also set themselves apart.

To be eligible for the award, the lawyer must demonstrate work completed in Australia for their firm or organisation in the 12 months over FY21-22.

To enter the award, register your account through our awards platform, fill in the details of your submissions, press save, and lodge it.

The judging criteria for the award category is both qualitative and quantitative and acknowledges growth, business development, business excellence, leadership, and innovation.

Submit your entry or nominate a colleague whom you believe is worthy of recognition of the Legal Operations Professional of the Year Award by Friday, 3 June 2022.
