Mills Oakley adds former GC and boutique firm owner as IP partner
National law firm Mills Oakley has appointed a new partner – who has worked at a global law firm, in-house and most recently as principal of her own boutique – for its intellectual property practice in Melbourne.

Lisa Egan (pictured) has joined Mills Oakley as a partner, bringing her more than 20 years of experience in IP law to the national firm.
Ms Egan joined Mills Oakley earlier in April.
Her expertise in IP, the firm said in a statement, includes extensive litigation experience in leading IP cases in the Federal Court in relation to trademarks, copyright, and misleading and deceptive conduct and passing off claims, and she provides advice for clients on IP protection and enforcement strategy, including confidential information, prosecutes trademark and design applications, acts in trademark oppositions, and manages IP portfolios.
Ms Egan was also the “preferred source of IP advice” for the Clarendon Lawyers team that joined Mills Oakley’s corporate practice last year – this relationship, firm chief executive John Nerurker said, was “instrumental” in deciding to recruit her.
“Lisa came to us with the strong recommendation of our corporate partners Nick Manuell and Tony Symons, who had worked with her for many years both at Clarendons and K&L Gates before that,” he explained.
“Having met Lisa, we immediately understood why she was so well regarded by clients and colleagues alike and we are fortunate to have secured a practitioner of her calibre for our firm.”
