Stage 3 of Gold Coast Light Rail project completed

The Queensland government Department of Transport and Main Roads has been advised on the procurement of stage 3 of the Gold Coast Light Rail (GCLR) project.

Deal: The procurement of stage 3 of the Gold Coast Light Rail (GCLR) project, which reached financial close on 30 March 2022, has been undertaken. Stage 3 is a 6.7-kilometre extension of the existing passenger light rail system, linking Helensvale to Burleigh Heads, set to be operational in 2025.  

Area: Projects

Value: $1.2 billion

Key players: The Corrs team was led by partner Melanie Bond and consultant Peter Schenk, who were supported by special counsel John Broadhead, senior associate Twina Au Yeung and experts across the firm, including partners Daryl Clifford, Airlie Fox, Paul Brickley, Felicity Saxon, Anna White and Nick Le Mare.

Deal significance: Speaking about the transactions, Ms Bond said: “As a firm, we are very proud to have supported the Queensland government on the GCLR project.

“This critical infrastructure will support the growth of the Gold Coast population and economy for decades to come. It is very pleasing to see stage 3 kick off.”
