Rapidly growing BigLaw firm Hamilton Locke has bolstered its funds and financial services practice in Sydney with the appointment of a new partner.
Erik Setio (pictured) has joined Hamilton Locke from Clayton Utz, bringing over 15 years of specialist experience in investment funds and financial services regulation. Mr Setio started his career at Clayton Utz as a summer clerk and served as a special counsel for the past two years and eight months.
The hire brings the firm’s partnership ranks to 38, following the recent launch of its Perth office.
His expertise, the firm said in a statement, covers financial services law, funds management (including all forms of collective investment vehicles), capital raisings and structuring and provision of financial products and services to wholesale and retail clients.
Speaking about the appointment of Mr Setio as a new partner, Hamilton Locke managing partner Nick Humphrey said: “We are delighted to welcome a great operator and have Erik join the firm, building out our funds and financial services capability in our Sydney office.
“This is an exciting move for the firm as we continue to expand service offering across our offices.”
Earlier this month, Lawyers Weekly spoke with Mr Humphrey and one of the founding partners of the Perth office, Shaun Hardcastle, about the firm’s growth trajectory and plans to list.
