Firm: Corrs Chambers Westgarth (TPG)

Deal: Under the deal, Corrs said in a statement, “both TPG and Telstra will benefit from improved network capability, particularly across rural and urban fringe areas. TPG will gain access to around 3,700 of Telstra’s cellular towers, and Telstra will gain access to TPG’s 4G and 5G spectrum and around 169 extra mobile sites”.

The deal will boost TPG’s 4G coverage to 98.8 per cent of the population, up from 96 per cent. It is subject to approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Area: Technology, media and telecommunications (TMT)

Value: N/A

Key players: The Corrs team was led by head of TMT James North, who was supported by partner Jodi Gray.

Deal significance: Speaking about the deal, Mr North said: “This is a significant agreement for TPG, Telstra and consumers across Australia who are set to benefit from an expanded mobile network.

“This deal builds on our track record of advising TPG, and the sector more broadly, on the most strategically important transactions in the telecommunications industry.”
