Over three one-hour lectures presented by Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) digital law group, students based in Asia and Australia will learn how emerging technologies – such as blockchain and artificial intelligence – will affect their role and their clients.

Over March, students will learn the three core concepts of digital law and how this is reshaping businesses; how emerging technologies are impacting clients and, subsequently, the advice that lawyers can give; and how these new technologies are impacting law firms and changing the ways that lawyers can operate.

Commenting on the initiative, HSF digital law head in Australia and Asia Susannah Wilkinson said these new technologies are changing the way firms operate.

“The digital transformation presents immense opportunities to both law firms and their clients, and is rapidly becoming essential knowledge for lawyers. This course will give students a much-needed practical understanding of how digital technologies are reshaping the practice of law,” Ms Wilkinson said.

The students who attend the course will also have the opportunity to win a mentoring session with one of HSF’s market-leading digital lawyers.

The course is available to university students of all levels and backgrounds with an interest in law. Prior experience in technology or law is not required.
