Sparke Helmore has congratulated partner Michelle Taylor on her new appointment, which the national law firm said acts as a true recognition of her standing in, and dedication to, the maritime legal community.

Ms Taylor has over 25 years of experience in maritime and transport law, having advised on some of the most significant Australian and international maritime incidents. She’s previously worked for BigLaw firms Colin Biggers & Paisley and Norton Rose Fulbright and has extensive, in-depth knowledge of the road transport industry.

MLAANZ engages with new legislative initiatives in Australia and New Zealand, works with Comité Maritime International (CMI) to facilitate the unification and harmonisation of maritime international laws and consults on admiralty rules and practice.

Following her appointment, Ms Taylor said she was “delighted and deeply honoured to be appointed president of MLAANZ”.

“I am looking forward to working with the wonderful board of MLAANZ, as well as the dedicated MLAANZ members to support the Australian and New Zealand maritime legal community.”
