Jarden makes ‘strategic alliance’ with Japan-based giant

Global law firm Ashurst has advised a Japan-based company on its alliance with Jarden in Australia and New Zealand.

Firm: Ashurst (Nomura).

Deal: Nomura has been advised on its alliance with Jarden.

Value: Undisclosed.

Area: Finance.

Key players: The legal team advising Nomura was led by Ashurst partner Rob Hanley, with assistance from senior associate Sumit Ram and graduate Yang Shu. Partners Melissa Fraser and Jonathan Gordon, senior associate Candice Upfold and lawyer Jessica Apel also assisted.

Deal significance: Jarden is a New Zealand-based investment and advisory that operates across the country and also Australia.

“The parties will cooperate and collaborate in relation to opportunities and transactions in Australia and New Zealand,” a statement from Ashurst said.

“Jarden will provide access to expertise and origination capabilities and Nomura will provide its global network, product capabilities and a strong balance sheet to support clients across equity capital markets, debt capital markets, and acquisition and leverage finance.

“The alliance will enable greater global reach, product expertise and capital commitment for clients of Nomura and Jarden. Ashurst advised Nomura on all aspects of the transaction.”

Commenting further, lead partner Mr Hanley said: We are delighted to have advised Nomura on this strategic alliance with Jarden, which will offer both firms complementary strengths and cultural synergies, while expanding the depth and reach of their respective global services.”
