Dentons adds to Brisbane office

The global law firm has bolstered its Brisbane practice with the appointment of a new partner.

Recovery and restructuring partner Claire Peterson has been welcomed to Dentons Brisbane office, joining from Aussie law firm, Lavan Legal.

Ms Peterson is described as an “accomplished lawyer with extensive experience in external administration, reconstruction and banking recovery”.

“Claire advises insolvency practitioners and directors on their duties and obligations including safe harbour, restructuring and antecendent transactions, and is an experienced litigator across multiple areas and jurisdictions. Claire has acted for three of Australia’s big-four banks, as well as other major, listed, and private financial institutions,” a statement from Dentons said. 

Dentons’ Australia chair and Australasia region chief executive, Doug Stipanicev congratulated Ms Peterson on her joining the partnership, noting that the appointment would complement Dentons’ already strong banking and finance and insolvency practices”.

“Dentons is well-known for its strength in banking and finance law. Our Recovery and Restructuring team has also seen a surge in client demand,” Mr Stipanicev said.

“Claire’s appointment allows us to continue to meet the growing demands and expectations of our clients, particularly in the Brisbane market.

“Throughout the pandemic Dentons has focused on coming out stronger on the other side, and remaining committed to our growth strategy. Claire and John’s appointments are just the start of Dentons’ growth story this year.”
