Firm: Allens (Multiplex)

Deal: Allens has advised Multiplex on the successful close of the $1.5 billion New Footscray Hospital project.

Value: $1.5 billion.

Area: Infrastructure.

Key players: The team was led by partner David Donnelly and assisted by senior associates Ben van Weel and Kate Kelleher, associates Thanushar Sridaran, Sharon Carey, Georgia Ellis and lawyers Tom Bleby, Gerard Papas and Georgia Percy.

Deal significance: Allens said the New Footscray Hospital is a critical community asset that will help address the increasing demand from Melbourne’s western suburbs.

Mr Donnelly said the result was particularly pleasing given the procurement process spanned multiple lockdowns and tackled a number of market challenges.

“From a contracting perspective, the project moves the market on a number of risks, and that is a testament to a lot of hard work and dialogue through the process,” he said.
