Newcastle firm hires solicitor with 2 decades of experience
Newcastle’s oldest firm has hired a solicitor to its family law practice who will bring with her over 20 years’ experience in the space.

Baker Love has hired Louise Neilson, who said that the firm’s reputation and ability to provide a comprehensive scope of legal services attracted her to the role.
She added that her experience has shown that the “best approach” to family law is one that is “people-focused and not purely transactional”. This means empowering her clients with knowledge and laying out all the available options so they can take the path that “best meets the needs of their family now and in the future”.
Her past experience includes work as a family lawyer at The Peaceful Lawyers and with Joplin Lawyers. She has also been a licenced conveyancer and director. She gained her bachelor of laws from Southern Cross University and was admitted to the Supreme Court in 2010.
“Family breakdowns can often be one of the hardest times of a person’s life. The decisions they make in the aftermath of a divorce or separation can affect them and their children for decades to come. Ensuring that people make sound choices about property, finances and spend time arrangements for their little ones is one of the highlights of my work and gives me real job satisfaction,” Ms Neilson said.
She added that taking this new role has allowed her to start working with “amazing lawyers with unique experience”. The team has a broad client base that requires different types of legal skills and experience and is highly collaborative.
