Global law firm Dentons has hired one partner and four lawyers from a Perth-based practice for its recovery and restructuring team.
Dentons has appointed John Park – who has over 20 years of experience in litigation, property development and construction – as a partner in its recovery and restructuring team in Perth.
Dentons now has over 60 partners across the major capital cities of Australia, it added.
Speaking about the appointments, Dentons Australia regional chair and Australasia chief executive Doug Stipanicev said he was “delighted” to welcome the team of five to the firm.
“Dentons came out of the pandemic in a strong position, and we have recommitted to our growth strategy in 2021,” he proclaimed.
“Adding John to the team in Perth opens up cross-border opportunities between Dentons’ litigation teams, and we see a lot of synergies with our Construction and Property Development teams in Sydney. We see these appointments as just the beginning of Dentons’ growth story this year.”
The appointments follow the naming of four new partners and addition of a further two in mid-late September of last year, as well as the elevation of 17 lawyers to senior positions in the same month. It also follows Mr Stipanicev’s arguments to Lawyers Weekly in October 2020 about the importance of inclusion in order to make diversity efforts successful.
