Government partner lured from national firm
A national law firm has nabbed a partner from Moray & Agnew as part of its efforts to invest further in commonwealth government practice.

Partner Scott Moloney will join Mills Oakley effective immediately where he will begin providing advice across the full range of public law issues, including statutory interpretation, administrative inquiries, merits review and judicial review applications.
Commenting on the hire, chief executive John Nerurker said that Mr Moloney would add a new dimension to the firm’s commonwealth government practice.
“We are focused on maintaining the right mix of expertise in our commonwealth government practices across every office. The addition of Scott’s deep public law expertise provides an ideal complement to the broad commercial offering in our existing government practice in Canberra,” he said.
Mr Moloney has worked on secondment in several commonwealth departments and agencies and has a “unique insight” into issues facing his clients. As a legal officer in the Royal Australian Navy Reserve, he has also regularly provided advice to command and individual Australian Defence Force members.
Mr Moloney said he was delighted to be joining the firm: “I have observed Mills Oakley consolidate its reputation as a collegiate national firm which is committed to the growth of its commonwealth government practice. I am looking forward to being part of the firm and contributing to Mills Oakley’s innovative, progressive culture.”
