Baker McKenzie has appointed a new global chief operating officer to oversee its firm’s business services function and an internal services transformation project.
New chief operating officer Kate Stonestreet will work alongside the global chair Milton Cheng and the executive committee on the implementation of the firm’s strategy. Since 2017, she has been the global director of operations and had responsibility on strategic oversight of centres in Manila, Belfast, Buenos Aires and Tampa.
“This is an exciting time, and we face both opportunities and challenges as we emerge from the crisis, but I believe we are strongly positioned for the future and I look forward to playing a central role in ensuring our future success.”
Prior to her current role as global director, Ms Stonestreet spent 13 years as the EMEA regional operating officer supporting the firm’s EMEA leadership and worked alongside the managing partners in leading the regional business professional teams. During her time in this role, she was instrumental in new office openings across the world.
Ms Stonestreet has held various other positions at the firm since joining in 1995, from chief operating officer of Hong Kong, China and Vietnam and director of firm business developments in the Asia-Pacific region. Ms Stonestreet is also a member of the global diversity and inclusion committee and the global race and ethnicity task force.
Mr Milton commented: “Throughout her career with the firm Kate has been an inspiring leader and a highly effective professional. Having known her for more than 20 years, I can say with assurance that I know she represents the very best of Baker McKenzie.
“I look forward to working even more closely with Kate in the coming months and years to drive our global firm strategy forward.”
