Queensland law firm Hopgood Ganim recently completed successful IPOs for two of its clients, Metallica Minerals Ltd and Allied Brands Ltd. Hopgood Ganim senior associate Michael Hansel led the team who handled the $3 million IPO of Metallica Minerals Ltd. Corporate partner Brian Moller was the lead partner in charge of the 22 November listing of Allied Brands Ltd, the Gold Coast-based company that owns Baskin-Robbins in Australia.

Allens Arthur Robinson acted for BHP Billiton Limited in its successful off-market share buy-back of 180.72 million shares at a total cost of approximately $2.272 billion. In the largest ever off-market share buy-back in Australia, BHP Billiton acquired the shares at a price of $12.57 each. A team of lawyers from AAR, led by partner David Wenger, advised on the Australian legal aspects of the transaction, as well as coordinating advice from a number of countries worldwide.
