Dentons elevates 17 to senior positions

Global firm Dentons has promoted 17 lawyers in Australasia to more senior roles, 10 of whom are women.

Dentons has elevated 10 lawyers to senior associate, six to managing associate and one to special counsel across Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, as part of a 2020 promotions round. Ten of the lawyers promoted are women.

The global firm’s newest senior associates are: Brienna Anderson (construction, Sydney), Charmaine Smit (real estate, Sydney), Delano Leen (recovery and restructuring, Adelaide) Emmanuel Njuguna (banking and finance, Adelaide), John Simpson (intellectual property and technology, Auckland), Kathryn Moulden (recovery and restructuring, Sydney), Komdal Lonagata (commercial, Port Moresby), Maryanne Tusais (litigation, Port Moresby), Scott Pollok (intellectual property and technology, Auckland), and Shane Calalesina (recovery and restructuring, Perth).

The new managing associates are: Abi Uthayachandran (banking and finance, Sydney), Annie Tseung (banking and Finance, Sydney), Brooke Spain (dispute resolution, Sydney), Cara Richardson, (real estate, Brisbane and Sydney), Christopher Soon, (recovery and restructuring, Sydney) and Rachel Walker (banking and finance, Sydney).

Elsewhere, Danielle Kuti (dispute resolution, Sydney) was made a special counsel.

Speaking about the promotions, Dentons Australia chair and Australasia regional CEO Doug Stipanicev said he was extremely proud of the achievements of the lawyers.

“These well-deserved promotions recognise our legal professionals who continue to demonstrate their skills and capabilities during these challenging times, and deliver outstanding results for our clients,” he said.

“I’m also extremely pleased that our commitment to gender equality continues to show, with 59 per cent of these promotions being women.”

The promotions are effective from 1 July 2020.
