John Holland, UGL advised on ‘landmark’ transport agreement

John Holland and UGL have been advised on an agreement to conduct bus and tram operations in Adelaide.

Firm: Corrs Chambers Westgarth (John Holland, UGL).

Deal: John Holland and UGL, in partnership with Transit Systems and operating locally as Torrens Connect, have struck an agreement with the South Australian government to conduct bus and tram operations in Adelaide.

Value: Undisclosed.

Area: Projects.

Key players: The Corrs team was led by partners Andrew Chew, Felicity Saxon and Michael Chaaya.

Deal significance: Torrens Connect will be operating 24 tram sets, over 200 buses and employs more than 250 staff members, delivering improved, integrated and customer-focused tram and bus services across Adelaide.

Speaking about the transaction, Mr Chew said: “We’re pleased to advise John Holland and UGL on their first [multimodal] contract in each company’s history.”
