International firm elevates 2 Australians to partnership
An international firm has announced the promotion of five new partners in the Asia Pacific, two of which will elevate to the firm’s partnership in Perth and Sydney.
The promotions are part of a cohort of 26 lawyers elected to partnership, drawn from “market-leading practices” across every region. In Australia, Mark Gillgren and Chad Bochan will lead Clifford Chance’s finance practice in Perth and Sydney respectively.
“Each and every one of them has proved themselves as an invaluable and trusted adviser for our clients, whether they are dealing with challenging times such as those so many businesses face today, or building for the long-term,” Mr Layton said.
He added that now is as important time as any to be investing in people and to ensure all leading global capabilities remain resolute in the time of COVID-19.
“Having the right people, with the right skills, and the right culture at the heart of partnership [put] us in the right place to support our clients when they need us most,” he said.
Mr Gillgren leads the finance practice in Perth, focusing on complex transactions across the region, including finance for acquisitions, projects and structured debt. He also leads the restructuring and insolvency practice in Australia and has specialist experience in the energy, resources and funds sector as well as trade and commodity finance.
Mr Bochan advises on energy and infrastructure financings in Asia Pacific and also works on IBOR transition mandates for several global clients. He has also taken responsibility for the Australian financial markets regulatory practice.
“Our Australian presence has never looked stronger with the addition of Mark and Chad and previous partner promotion of Nadia Kalic which [strengthen] our service to clients in Australia and the wider region,” said Australian managing partner Richard Gordon.
“In particular, I’d like to recognise their wonderful commitment and contribution to expanding our firm’s truly global reach and breadth of knowledge across our various practice areas.”
