MinterEllison mourns loss of Phil Bisset
The partners and staff at MinterEllison have expressed their condolences to the family of Phil Bisset, a partner in the Melbourne office’s environment and planning division.

The team at MinterEllison is greatly saddened to have received the news that partner Mr Bisset had passed and their hearts go out to his family in this difficult time.
“Phil was a well-loved member of our partnership and a generous mentor to many young lawyers over his career. He was passionate about horse racing and he was also a keen golfer who will be greatly missed by all his friends and work colleagues.
“He earned the respect of clients and colleagues everywhere. Once again, our thoughts and prayers are with Marianne, Christopher, Andrew and Adrienne at this time.”
Mr Bisset was a leading town planning and property development lawyer who had worked as a qualified town planner. His experience spanned a wide range of projects – including major urban renewal, infill residential, major shopping centre developments, retirements and aged care centres, and in the tourism and leisure sectors.
Mr Hibbins said Mr Bisset was an outstanding lawyer, well known and is respected within the planning and environment sector in both Victoria and Australia.
He was sought after in the market for his advice on planning and development approvals, environmental assessments and also in regard to a broad range of issues, such as with planning agreements, heritage and liquor approvals. He brought extensive experience as a solicitor advocate and counsel to specialist planning Queen’s counsel.
“He was a man of great integrity and humility,” said Mr Hibbins. “He always went above and beyond to help others out whenever the situation called.”
