Managing partner Paul Hopkins stated that the elevation of these team members from the firm’s Brisbane and Sydney offices reinforces Carter Newell’s commitment to providing specialist knowledge.

“Each elevation is a testament to the firm’s culture and success and the partnership and I welcome the elevation of these five outstanding lawyers as we move into an exciting year for the firm,” Mr Hopkins said.

Kyle Trattler, appointed to special counsel in Carter Newell’s construction and engineering team, joined the firm back in 2012. Previously he was a solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) and Clayton Utz

Mr Trattler has extensive experience in resolving building and construction disputes through litigation, arbitration and adjudication, and is a registered adjudicator under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act.

According to a statement provided by Carter Newell, Mr Trattle has successfully managed matters arising from all areas of the construction industry including the construction of buildings, civil works contracts and complex engineering works.

David Fisher, also appointed to special counsel in Carter Newell’s insurance team, specialises on commercial disputes on behalf of insurers and their intermediaries and corporate self-insureds.

He brings 11 years of experience, regularly providing advice to insurers on the construction, interpretation and application of all facets of directors and officers, management liability and professional indemnity policies of insurance, and has a broad range of experience acting in many large and complex litigated claims.

Elsewhere, Liana Isaac is set to become senior associate after more than three years at Carter Newell with her experience extending to property and injury liability matters. Previously she was a lawyer at Mullins Lawyers and before that Spranklin Mccartney Lawyers. She has advised on a variety of leading Australian insurers and corporate insurers concerning public liability, product liability and workers’ compensation claims.

Promoted to senior associate in Carter Newell’s insurance team, Kate Martin’s primary focus extends to professional indemnity and third-party claims. As a trusted adviser to her corporate and insurer clients, Ms Martin’s broader commercial litigation expertise includes personal injury insurance matters, class actions, complex contractual disputes, general commercial disputes, and high-profile defamation actions. Ms Martin is also a member of The Law Society of NSW and is both a professional conduct committee and litigation law and practice committee member.

Rebecca Reeves is promoted to associate in the insurance team and has acted on behalf of national and international clients. “Our focus will always be to provide seamless and expert advice to our clients,” Mr Hopkins continued. “The elevations reiterate the firm’s commitment to the provision of high-quality legal service to our clients supported by strong long-term relationships with these five dedicated lawyers. We are delighted and equally proud of their success and congratulate them on their elevation.”
