Firm: Gilbert + Tobin (Healthscope)

Deal: Gilbert + Tobin (G+T) has advised Healthscope on Hobart Private Hospital long-term concession.

Value: Undisclosed.

Area: Infrastructure.

Key players: Partner Alexander Danne led the team, with support from senior lawyer Daniel Yim and lawyers Dylan Gardner and Christopher Ashen.

Deal significance: Healthscope is a private healthcare provider with 43 hospitals across Australia and pathology operations across New Zealand. After a six-month competitive tender process ran by the Tasmanian government, Healthscope was selected as the preferred tenderer in 2019.

G+T advised Healthscope on all aspects of the tender process, including extensive contract negotiations with the Tasmanian government.

Commenting on the deal, Mr Danne said: “We are very pleased to have assisted Healthscope throughout their successful bid in relation to the Hobart Private Hospital.

“The hospital plays a central role in the overall Tasmanian healthcare system, and the new contract provides certainty to the Tasmanian public around emergency and clinical services, eases pressure on the Royal Hobart Hospital and paves the way for continued capital investment,” he said.
