Kalium Lakes advised on financing of WA sulphate project

ASX-listed exploration and development company Kalium Lakes has been advised on its project financing for the development of the Beyondie sulphate of potash project in Western Australia.

Firm: DLA Piper (Kalium Lakes Limited).

Deal: Funding for the project is being provided under a $48 million infrastructure development facility from the Commonwealth government’s Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility and a $128 million syndicated project development facility provided by NAIF and KfW IPEX-Bank.

Value: Undisclosed.

Key players: DLA Piper’s team was led by finance and projects partners Alex Regan and Rhys Davies, with assistance from solicitors Sam Forsyth, Shehan Canagasingham and Matthew Roberts, foreign legal associate Chloe Wilkinson and Vanessa Alam as project manager.

Deal significance: Mr Regan said: “We are delighted to support Kalium Lakes in reaching financial close on this significant milestone, which will enable the development of a new Australian industry, supplying Australian farmers with locally produced sulphate of potash.”
