LIV elects new 2020 president
The new 2020 president of the Law Institute of Victoria was endorsed by its members at the annual general meeting in Melbourne this week.
The newly elected president Sam Pandya is a current council member and president-elect 2019. The Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) said he has 22 years’ experience within commercial, corporate and insolvency law and OpusRed Lawyers managing partner.
“I will work hard to promote opportunities for solicitors throughout their careers, provide support and value to all our members, and promote diversity and inclusion in all forms,” he said.
Mr Pandya hold an honours degree in law from the University of London and degrees in accounting and finance and graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors.
“I’m proud to lead a profession that understands the importance of professionalism and the rule of law and proud of our ability to advocate for justice and provide legal assistance for the whole community,” Mr Pandya said.
Results of the annual election were endorsed at the AGM. There are seven councillors elected to the 18-member council. They were Caitlin Baker, Rebecca Alexander, Tom May, Lauren Crome, Caroline Counsel, John McPherson and Trieu Huynh.
