HSF brings on superannuation expert
Global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills has confirmed a superannuation expert has joined its Australian financial services team.

HSF has appointed Ruth Stringer as a consultant, effective immediately. She is based in the firm’s Sydney office.
Ms Stringer joins HSF from ASIC where she was a senior specialist in the corporate watchdog’s superannuation team. Prior to this, she was a partner at King & Wood Mallesons between 2014 and 2019, and a partner at Ashurst between 2007 and 2012. Before Ashurst, she was general counsel of MLC.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Ruth to the firm,” said Herbert Smith Freehills’ financial services partner Michael Vrisakis.
“The role of the trusted adviser in the regulatory space has never been more important. The ability of law firms to connect with boards on strategic advice is paramount and Ruth epitomises this skill set.
“The extensive policy and governance expertise that she has garnered working across private practice, in-house counsel and at a regulator, together with the universal respect she enjoys in the industry, make her an invaluable addition to our team and a huge asset to our clients.”
Commenting on her new role, Ms Stringer said: “I am delighted to have joined the Herbert Smith Freehills team. I have long respected the firm and its innovative approach to its financial services practice.”
“The team covers all facets of the industry, from banking and insurance to superannuation and financial planning, with the scale and depth to advise on transactions, regulatory interactions, remediation programs and everything in between.”
