Wendy Nixson has taken on the role as special counsel, where she will be responsible for driving the firm’s medical negligence team across the Sunshine State.

Prior to this, Ms Nixson held the role of general manager of Shine’s Brisbane and South West office, before taking leave to have her second child, according to a statement from the firm.

“We’re thrilled to have Wendy back in our medical negligence team,” Lisa Flynn, Shine Lawyers’ head of specialist person injury, said.

“Wendy has a strong reputation as being one of the most highly regarded medical negligence lawyers in Queensland.

“Wendy’s vast experience and expertise in medical law will be a great asset and it will ensure that Shine Lawyers can continue to bring fantastic outcomes for our clients.”

Working under Shine’s national special counsel, Clare Eves, Ms Nixson said she is looking forward to reconnecting with clients, “helping those who need it most and making litigation as stress-free as possible for them”.

“What I love about medical law is that no two cases are ever the same,” she said.

“They each have their own forensic nuances requiring research, collaboration, attention to detail and an individualised strategy.

“I’m happy to be returning to an area of law that I love and I’m passionate about.”
