First all-female partnered firm hits Orange
Three female solicitors have made history in NSW’s central west, as owners of the first all-female partnered law firm in the city of Orange.
Local solicitors Dannielle Ford, Alice Byrnes and Kirsty Evans have bought the firm Cheney Suthers Lawyers at 33-35 Sale Street.
Commenting on the decision to buy the firm, Alice Byrnes said that “when the opportunity arose, the three of us jumped on it”.
“We’re excited but daunted at the same time”, she exclaimed, stating that Mr Cheney and Mr Suthers “set the bar high with their quality legal representation to the Central West”.
For Dannielle Ford, the three women’s complimentary set of skills and experience across different practice areas will allow them “to offer an even bigger suite of legal services to Cheney Suthers clients”.
Kirsty Evans added that “we hope to serve clients, not just in Orange, but in the greater Central West, who traditionally may have turned to city-based law firms for their legal needs”.
Ms Byrnes returned home to Orange just over three years ago after working in commercial litigation in Sydney, with experience extending through to employment law, family law, and estate disputes.
Ms Ford began her legal career as a secretary at Cheney Suthers, and went on to gain her law degree.
She has since built up a practice of criminal and traffic law, family law, wills and estates and conveyancing.
Ms Evans’ ten years as a solicitor has enabled her to now offer the region expertise in farm succession planning, corporate, commercial and property law.
“It is going to be an exciting 2019 – between the three of us, we have five children under three,” Ms Evans noted.
