Simon Bellas is relocating from the firm’s Perth office to join Singapore-based partners Matt Skinner and Zachary Sharpe to further expand the Firm’s arbitration practice in Singapore and Hong Kong.

In addition, he will continue to contribute to the firm’s Australian litigation and arbitration practice.

In Singapore, Mr Bellas will continue to advise clients on construction claims and disputes, with a particular focus on large-scale energy and resources projects and related infrastructure matters, the firm said in a statement.

He was previously based in Singapore while working on behalf of a global offshore contractor, the firm added, and has since run several significant construction arbitrations seated in Singapore, arising out of Australian mining projects.

Mr Bellas’ relocation follows yesterday’s story that the firm had appointed Adam Salter, a partner in the firm’s labour and employment practice, as the new head of the Jones Day offices in Perth, effective 1 January 2019.

The announcement also follows news that Jones Day had promoted two of its global disputes practice lawyers, Annie E. Leeks and Maria Yiasemides, to the firm’s partnership ranks in its Brisbane and Sydney offices respectively.
